I run the Cornish and Portuguese painting holidays according to demand. However, Portugal in the month of August is VERY hot (up to 40 degrees) so we tend not to go in August. If you would like to book a painting holiday in either Cornwall or Portugal, please complete the form below so that we can discuss the most suitable dates for all concerned. Although these holidays sound very specific, if you have a group (all girls or all retired, etc) that would like to book a week together, I would be happy to arrange this.
Painting Holiday Prices
These painting holidays are priced at £695 for 7 days and 6 nights with 5 days of painting. This includes your accommodation, meals and art materials, but does not include travel to Cornwall or Portugal or transfers.
Cornwall Painting Holidays
These are based in the area they call the “Forgotten Corner of Cornwall”. Includes Kingsand and Cawsand where they filmed some of the scenes for the movie Turner or there is the 800 acre Mount Edgcumbe Park. This area has everything from sandy beaches to historic buildings, good pubs and nice people.
Portugal Painting Holidays
Taking in places like the lovely town of Coimbra which has the Mondego river running through it, museums, gardens, plenty of cafes and restaurants. Lots to experience and plenty of opportunities to capture the culture and people. The Estrella mountains are another favourite with photographers and painters alike, beautiful scenery and views. The whole region we concentrate on is rich in history, it has lots riverside villages and towns such as Arganil and Coja.
As we welcome all abilities the guidance given is based entirely on your needs.
The week will start with a welcome meal (including partners) to wind down after your journey and to get to know each other.
The second day you will be given sketch books and pencils and will spend time in and around Tabua, drawing, sketching and taking reference photo’s to prepare to compose our paintings.
Day three will take us to the river Mondego where we will sketch, draw, photograph and those brave enough can paint. We will have a picnic or go the café depending on choice of group and later back to the villa to discuss our work.
On the fourth day I would like us all to do some plein air painting in a picturesque village or local beauty spot where we can spend as long as we all like.
The fifth and sixth days will be spent at the villa working on our paintings or you may prefer to spend some time with your partners. We are flexible as it is your holiday and we can swap and change the itinerary according to weather or group choice.
Drive from Santander or fly to Porto. From Porto you can organise a hire car. Our base is a small town called Tábua, about 2.5 hours drive from the airport.
